AERIAL SURVEY PHOTOGRAPHS

The following images from the seventies and eighties were sourced from QImagery.

Bay numbers have been derived from discernable markings in the photographs. In the case of the September 1972 photograph, Bays 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 & 11 are not clearly evident on the photograph so these positions have been extrapolated from known bay numbers.

13 SEPTEMBER 1972

In this view, all the buildings are labelled. In subsequent views, only the passenger terminals are labelled. There are 12 bays with Bay 1 marked "NO 727". The TAA Terminal has been rebuilt following a fire on 5 September 1971.

29 JANUARY 1974

By 1974, the bays have been rearranged and a 13th bay added.

06 FEBRUARY 1978

International operations transferred to the Temporary International Terminal at Boronia Road on 16 December 1975. In this view the old international terminal has been demolished and the bays further rearranged. Of note is the addition of a covered walkway from the TAA terminal.

14 APRIL 1981

In this view, the Ansett and TAA terminals have been expanded to occupy the space of the demolished International Terminal. Domestic operations transferred to the new airport on 20 March 1988.
